Inspiration Patterns & Finding Authenticity

I can't believe our inspiration month went by so fast! It was so great hearing all about what gets YOU inspired! We're going to be discussing Authenticity for the rest of September, so I thought it would be fitting to talk about how my sources of inspiration help me figure out what is authentically me.
I loved Carolyn's post last week about her obsession with Pinterest, so I was going to piggyback on that and share some things that I've marked that inspire me. I mainly use Pinterest as a way to collect ideas and I hardly ever look at all of my pins on a board together. When I started going through them today for this post, I was amused to find some very clear patterns.

Quite obviously, I am a person who'd like to spend some time wearing a pretty girly dress in her turquoise kitchen cooking for a party that's going to be held in a twinkle-light laden backyard. And really, that is kinda who I am.
While I totally understand that these photos are representative of current trends, the combination is what makes them interesting. The combination is what makes them unique. Unique to me.

Tiffany, are you sure we're not sisters? I'm so with you on these patterns, although I'd like a turquoise studio rather than a kitchen. My party would probably be a cookout with hubby doing the grilling. When collecting idea information for Maggie Rose to spruce up my office/studio, I was really surprised at the amount of turquoise and blue-green in my inspiration pics. It's great with white, black, gray, orange, maroony-red! Although you're right, these are trends that are starting to happen, I wonder if, as an artist, you pick them out ahead of the general public?
How did I miss this post earlier? I have heard of Pinterest but now I have to go check it out. I have a real life board where I pin my current inspirations and the process of continually choosing and arranging my stuff there is an essential part of my creative process. I identify with your inspiration photos too: my version would be drawing pretty party dress designs in my aqua blue studio and then sewing them too followed by wearing a pretty dress to a twinkly-lit party (my wedding was crazy with candles) with friends where I bring a pie I made in my blue & white vintage-styled kitchen. You just inspired me. Thank you!
