Self-Care: July Video, Episode One

Good morning friends!  We hope you all had a relaxing and restful long weekend!

We are so excited to bring you our first video for July on the topic of self-care. We decided to skip the obvious question of "Why is self-care so important?" and start the series off by digging a little deeper and asking:

What gets in the way of taking care of yourself?

Watch to find out what gets in our way as we each try to take care of ourselves -- the common culprit we all face might just surprise you!

Comment inspiration:
What do you find gets in your way as you try to take care of yourself? Do you put others first or are you able to recognize what your own needs are? When you are engaged in self-care are you truly able to relax or is your mind always wandering to the next things on your list to get done?

Resources:
The Now Habit -- Carolyn's secret weapon when it comes to overcoming procrastination. I think we could all use a little help in that!

We are also thrilled to announce our winner for the lovely Valentina Ramos prints giveaway from last Wednesday. Congratulations to...

We'll see you tomorrow with another artist spotlight and giveaway!

While this video was full of great things, I really loved Jess admitting that she was comforted to know Carolyn watches TV--sometimes for more than 2 hours! I had the same reaction, and it just goes to show how we see these uberproductive people and assume they're working ALL THE TIME. But maybe Carolyn's able to be more productive because she gives herself those time outs, time for self care or just lazing about.

I responded on Twitter, too, feeling as if so many things get in the way of self care; it too often seems like my lowest priority and just about anything can jump in front of it in the queue. I try to get a handle on that by reminding myself that I do better at everything--including caring for others--when I also take care of myself.
