I have only recently found you and your website and I must say that after watching all of the videos on here I truly believe yours is the best. You have such a warm and sincere and humble and yet inspiring manner about you. Can't wait to see you as the new co-host!
Kate - this video is soooo great!! What you said about non-supporters resonated with me on a deep level - I to have had to cut folks from my life that weren't supporters, that never really were supporters in the first place or ever in my life & that is such a hard thing for anyone to get through. But we are STRONG! So much luck!!! Rooting for you!!! xoxo
I totally love how you provided a way for the person to provide you with questions in a safe/kind way for yourself. Because that just shows how good you must be at this whole life coaching business. Bravo- great video!
the hardest part can be to receive that sort of negative feedback and not integrate it, even as we deny it as our truth (if that makes sense). you've beautifully laid out here how you've learned to do that. lovely.
Love this video (love all of Kate's videos actually). I really appreciate so many real life examples when examining a broad subject and I think Kate does this exceedingly well. Can't wait till she's the next co-host!
Great video Kate. ♥ Love your perspective and insight on the topic of support & non-support.
love the video Kate! You are such an authentic and inspiring person & I think you would be a great fit for Spring Inspiration :)
I'm not the emailer in question but, and this isn't personal except insofar as you used it as an example and it's something I've been thinking about for awhile, I think it's valid criticism to say that life-coaching is dangerous. I am curious about how life coaches reconcile their progressivism or activism or feminism or socialism (unless they're right-wing in which case the point is moot) with embarking on a lifestyle that isn't merely "not progressive" or "not feminist" but actively anti-feminist and anti-activist, etc.
By dividing people, especially women, and making their issues seem unique to them rather than offering that a consciousness raising feminist group or other activism or consciousness raising might more helpfully explain some of the issues they're experiencing and build solidarity with a movement, life coaches are being overtly counter-activist. Now I know some or many life coaches identify as activists but I find it hypocritical, and the activism so small compared to the anti-activism of taking people, especially women, away from real movement by pretending their needs are highly unique and personal and then, worst of all to my mind, being Super Capitalist and helping them part with their money and consume.
Unlike other commenters I think the absolute worst thing about the email exchange as articulated is that you chose to focus on the emailer's tone rather than the content. Avoiding meaningful content to focus on politeness of tone is another tactic of anti-activists.
Very powerful. Thanks for being an example of how to stand up for yourself and take care of yourself, despite what people may think :)
Thanks to all of you for the comment love! ;-)
Jane, if you're interested in learning any more about myself or how my vision might align with your vision of activism, feel free to contact me directly.
A very gracious response to an often difficult topic - you make strong examples using personal experiences. Confrontation does not always have to be unpleasant - you are an example of kind heartedness and maturity. This was an excellent video Kate! Good luck to you!
Great video Kate. I liked your approach to the question and your examples. Lea
I love this, Kate! You have such wonderfully open and inviting energy that radiates from the screen.
Beautiful job Kate! I think that you would be a wonderful co-host. I really love how you re-frame difficult issues for folks.
Dear Kate,
I love your non-judgmental, open-minded approach to conversations and decision making. Great video!
Kate, your words of wisdom are beautiful. Life coaching is dangerous in that you are challenged to dig deep, to speak your truth and commit to growth. I think we all need a little of this kind of danger in our life. Thanks, Kate, for being you.
Thank you for offering another way to consider these situations! I appreciate the respectful approach so much, and the calm and easy way you deliver it.
Inspiring and helpful Kate. I think you would make an excellent co-host!
Tiffany Moore- Great look on video, and would love you have that cup of coffee. Great philosophy. Good job!
