Episode 3, Video 3: How do you deal with Non-Supporters?
February 16, 2010 Hello hello! Welcome to the 3rd February episode of Spring, all about support! Today we're actually spinning things around a bit and talking about NON-supporters. How do you deal with people that just don't get what it is that you're doing? Do the amount of non-supporters grow as you reach higher levels of success? Listen in to hear what we have to say about this nitty-gritty topic! And hopefully this video will work better than the one last week.... we so appreciate your patience with all our technical challenges, you guys! We promise that next month the videos are going to look and sound waaaaay better! (We recorded them yesterday, so I can say that with certainty!)

Also, this week we're giving away another set of "Practice Kindness Window Card Collections," so leave us a comment to be entered into this giveaway! We'll pick winners for all the March giveaways at the beginning of April, so stay tuned.

Thanks for talking about this topic, ladies. Some days, if I'm feeling "evolved," I try to focus on what I can learn from the "non-supporter." Some people -- I've experienced this with my mom and with a friend -- are unsupportive out of fear. My mom was afraid that I'd be hurt; my friend was afraid of her own inability or unwillingness to make the changes necessary to take control of her life . It took me a while to figure this out, and it wasn't easy to get past the hurt, but once I did, I was able to meet them on their own terms. I recognized that my mother's attitude was grounded in love, and that my friends' attitude was much less about me than it was about her.
These were valuable lessons in stepping outside myself and seeing the issue from someone else's perspective. Granted, both these relationships were valuable to me, so they were worth the time and effort it took me.
I found this piece extremely interesting & thought-provoking. I am in a similar situation at the moment & have some major decisions to make. Thank you for helping me think a little more clearly.
Awesome and definitely thought-provoking; You guys have unbelievable chemistry!
I *really* needed to hear this, today. Last week there was a sort of snarcky vibe going on in social media, such that I was taking on a feeling of being judged and not supported. [[ breathe ]] And more recently, I've noticed that some friends have not made as much effort to stay in touch. [[ breathe ]] I love what you share, reminding us all not to take it personally, not to make it about Ego. It was also really nice to hear that others experience forms of non-support, too. ~ thank you ~
Wow, good topic! And I love the giveaway!
This is such an important discussion! I wish I had watched and listened to your stories before I got so thrown outta whack in January after a massive hate storm. Bottom line, even if its not "about" you, you're involved and it is hurtful. Just because we live on the Internet doesn't mean our human qualities disappear.
Thanks so much for this series!!!
Hehe, I have a feeling this episode addresses exactly the question I posed in my previous comment - except I can't see the video again :o( I feel so much for you guys with this technology stuff - so frustrating! I can, however, see Jessica Schroeder's video - and loved it!
