I'm always telling people to own it. I write about it on my blog. I make little notes for myself around the house. I put it on a piece of paper in my wallet.
Own it.
Those two simple words have such power.
And for me, they've made such a difference in my life. Because they've helped me recognize who I truly am, what it is about me that makes me special, that makes me me. They've helped me see that embracing these parts of myself, these sparkly bits is what leads to magic, what makes those crazy awesome moments-we-live-for happen!
It's those moments that define who we are. Where we are. And what kind of happiness we may have.
There was a song that they played at an assembly in elementary school that we all had to sing along to. "I am special. I'm important. I'm unique." over and over.

At the time, my classmates and I thought it was silly and laughed about it, made fun of the song and changed the lyrics around.
But as I think about it now, I love the message. I love that our teachers and school administrators understood the importance of self-esteem, of confidence and owning it so much that they brought the entire school together to sing this song.
And I guess this is the message I want you all to remember as we wrap up Authenticity month. Remember that you ARE unique, that there are things about you that are magical and amazing and unlike anyone else. That you have so much to offer this world, so much to offer all of us.
