Jess Gonacha Swift's intro video

Good morning everyone!! I'm excited to share my intro video with you this morning-- I've been so inspired by Carolyn and Jess LC's videos the past couple of weeks, and I hope you have been as well.

I realized that I may not have been very clear on what it is that I actually DO for a living, though, so I invite you to visit my website to get a feel for it. In a nutshell, I'm a surface pattern designer, illustrator, painter, and freelance designer. I started out as a painter (which you will hear me discuss in the video) and have branched out into other avenues the past couple of years. Basically, I do a lot of different things!

 I hope you enjoy it, and I wish you a very happy holiday with lots of rest, relaxation, and cookies.

I had no idea that you were a musician, Jess! You're awesome.

I loved loved hearing your story, soup to nuts. It's obviously that you're truly entrepreneurial, despite The Worries that you expressed. I think it would be so interesting to hear more about how you trusted the situation to "work out how it's supposed to", especially when you just decided to go for it (as opposed to being a part-time nanny). Perhaps a good topic for Spring in the spring?

Merry Christmas, Jess! Hope it's a great one!

Hi Jess,

Thank you for sharing your story here. I liked your artwork the first time I saw it and have ordered a couple things from you. I like your postive attitude and your perseverance to keep going forward and encourging others along the way. Your story here is encouraging to me, because I feel like I am kind of doing the same thing and just going for it. I quit my technical job at Boeing in 2005 because after 15 years I just couldn't do it anymore. I signed up to go to school and got my two year degree in interior design. I didn't get a job right away in this field after school and ended up homeschooling my teenage son for a year, but I did a little design work on the side. I noticed that friends kept asking me to decorate for their parties and that I really enjoyed doing that more than the formal interior design, so in this New Year, in the month of Jan. I am getting my business license and working on getting all my pictures together for a portfolio and website and hope to start selling my services for interior and event design at least by the end of Jan or Feb. I still feel a little unprepared, like I don't have a whole plan, but my husband thinks we should just go for it.

Thanks for all your comments!

@Krista: woo hoo! Yeah for Colorado girls!

@Nicole: YOU are too sweet!

@Michelle: good topic indeed! And yes, I'm a musician, although I'm *very* out of practice. II still sing in the car and at home, though!

@Melissa: WOW! Good for you! That is really inspiring, and I love your spirit of forging ahead even though all the pieces might not be as in place as you think they "should" be. I wish you huge success!! Please feel free to get in touch if you need help with anything. :)
